Best-Selling Christmas Crafts for 2024

It’s the time of year when people start thinking about Christmas.

I’ve researched which product-related terms people search with “Christmas” to make a list of items a craft business can make and sell.

Of course, there are other items people are shopping for leading up to the holidays, however…

This list shares “Christmas” specific items.

How this list was created

No one can predict the future but I’ve done a lot of keyword research to best predict these trends for the 2024 holidays.

I can’t give away my secrets 😉 but I use a few different tools, in a few different ways to dissect what consumers are looking for and if searches for a specific term look to be on an upward trajectory. 

This list is based on online research (as it’s the easiest way to track consumer behaviour). However, when an item is popular online, it’s often popular offline too (e.g. at craft shows).

Please use your discretion, your knowledge of your business, your business’s brand, target market, customer’s buying trends etc. to decide which trends are right for you.

 

How to use this list

I’ve organized this list by general themes and by craft/product category, but be sure to look under all sections as you may find ideas outside of your section. For example, a stationery business may want to offer a “Christmas card holder”. Even though it doesn’t fit under the “stationery” category, the item works with stationery products.

If I found a product (e.g. “Christmas cards”) that has niche products under it that are popular (e.g. “Funny Christmas cards”), I’ve nested those items below it. Not every product has demand for more niche products.

If you find an idea but you’re not quite sure what it is consumers are looking for, try Google-ing it. The results that are in the top few spots or at the top of the “Images” tab are a good indication of what’s popular with consumers.

For example, when I saw “Christmas name tags” I thought of tags people wear at networking events. But a Google search tells me people are looking for tags they can put on Christmas gifts and write someone’s name on.

 

2024 Christmas Themes

These were some of the themes that I noticed, that can be applied to a variety of products. 

 

Gingerbread decor

Gingerbread is popular every Christmas. However, it appears to be ramping up to be a more popular term for this Christmas. These are some of the specific terms consumers are searching:

• Gingerbread Christmas tree (if you bake)
• Gingerbread Christmas decor
• Gingerbread house Christmas decorations
• Gingerbread Christmas ornaments
• Gingerbread man Christmas decorations

 

Decorate everywhere

Search terms show that people are looking for ways to decorate every nook and cranny of their house, from their porch and windows to their bathroom and kitchen. If you make home decor items, consider how to put a Christmas-y flair on them.

Cozy Christmas

Christmas pajamas (for everyone) continue to be a popular search term. Consumers also search for Christmas blankets, throw pillows, quilts, and bedding. Signs consumers want to feel cozy.

 

Christmas villages

Although these are nothing new, it looks like creating Christmas villages will be popular this year (which could be due to a few popular brands offering villages; Harry Potter, Lego, Disney, etc. You can’t make those items or it would be copyright infringement). These are some of the more popular terms consumers are searching:

• Christmas village sets
• Christmas village houses
• Ceramic Christmas village
• Christmas village accessories

If you work with wood or create ceramic items, this might be a good item for you to sell. I’ve also seen some really neat paper Christmas villages. This could be a pre-made item you ship or a digital download so people can print your templates, cut them out, and assemble them to make a paper Christmas village.

Don’t forget about the dog

“Dog” showed up a lot more than “cat” when researching popular Christmas items (and larger volumes of people were searching for dog-related items). Here are the most popular dog terms:

• Dog Christmas sweater
• Dog Christmas pajamas
• Dog Christmas stocking
• Christmas dog collar
• Dog Christmas gifts (open to your creativity; this popular search term tells you people want dog-specific items to buy as gifts)
• Christmas dog toys
• Dog Christmas ornaments (you’ll find more specifics under the “ornament” section)
• Dog Christmas bandana

 

Best-Selling Christmas Stationery and Art 

• Christmas cards
  • Funny Christmas cards
  • Personalized Christmas cards
  • Printable Christmas cards
  • Religious Christmas cards
  • Christian Christmas cards
  • Watercolor Christmas cards

• Christmas tags
  • Christmas name tags (printable)
  • Christmas tags printable

• Christmas cow (this appears to be a search for artwork that features a Christmas-themed cow)

 

Print on Demand Christmas products to make & sell

• Christmas wrapping paper
  • Pink Christmas wrapping paper (this is likely a trend from last year’s Barbiecore trend, however, I checked a few sites and it appears their traffic for “pink Christmas wrapping paper” is trending up for this year too. Search the term on Etsy and you’ll find some beautiful examples (that aren’t Barbie-themed))
  • Vintage Christmas wrapping paper
• Christmas napkins (based on my research, it appears consumers are searching for paper napkins over cloth)
• Christmas bags (consumers seem to be looking for paper bags as the search volume for “Christmas fabric bags” is much lower)
• Christmas stickers
• Christmas socks
  • Kids Christmas socks

    • etc.
  • Breed-specific ornaments – there were a few dog breeds that showed up on the ornament list:
    • Golden Retriever Christmas ornament

    • French bulldog Christmas ornament
  • Custom Christmas ornament
  • Christmas ornament sets – if you’re making Christmas ornaments to sell, consider designing collections so several pieces work together, and bundling some as sets; a great way to increase your UPT.

  • Christmas tree candle (from what I can tell, consumers are looking for a candle that’s shaped like a Christmas tree)

Popular searches open to interpretation

The following are terms that are commonly searched and can be applied to most products. Consumers aren’t looking for a specific item (e.g. “Christmas earrings for mom”) but rather, they want businesses to offer ideas because they’re not sure what to get.

These terms will be helpful for businesses selling online (e.g. using “Christmas gift for mom” in product titles, descriptions, tags, etc.) and for businesses that have a blog or newsletter. Sending a newsletter with “my top 10 Christmas gift ideas for moms” would likely be popular.

• Advent calendar (more businesses are selling advent calendars filled with items from their product category (e.g. Sephora advent calendar is full of makeup and skincare products))
• Christmas Eve box (this may be something a woodworker makes that can be filled with items of their choice, or a business may curate items and sell the Christmas Eve boxes ready to gift).

 

Those are the most popular product-focused “Christmas” search terms as we head into the 2024 holidays. I hope they help you create your next best-selling product!
