Craft Trends to Make & Sell in 2025

This article shares products that are not only popular on Etsy (indicating an interest from consumers who like to shop handmade online or at craft shows), but also, products that are seeing an increase in demand on Etsy as we head into 2025.

Each year, I adjust my method to make the list more useful/valuable to you.

As always, I use a tool that tells me the search demand of a keyword to base this list on stats, rather than guessing what’s popular heading into the new year.

This year, I changed my method by:

  • focusing on popular Etsy searches, as those are more relevant to handmade businesses selling online or at craft shows.
  • searching by product type. Instead of gathering the most popular product searches, I filtered the searches by including products my readers are likely selling (e.g. necklaces, bags, scarves, etc.)
  • finding results that have an increase in traffic. I wanted to see which keywords Etsy was seeing an increase in traffic for heading into 2025.

I still included a few ideas that aren’t specific to Etsy.

Although these trends are based on online search demand, many ideas will translate to offline sales.

Important Notes:

Please keep the following points in mind:

A) Trend = Popular

“Trend” doesn’t mean “new”. Many of these popular searches have been around for years. But if they still have a high search volume and are seeing an increase in searches, I consider them a trend for 2025.

B) Not exhaustive

I didn’t include every product idea I came across; I focused on ones that have a high search volume (more than 1000 searches per month).

If you don’t see your category of product in this list, it’s because I didn’t find specific products under that category that have a significant search volume or an increase in searches.

You can leave a comment asking about a category of product (if you don’t see it listed here) and I will do my best to research it.

C) No copyrighted ideas

I did a lot of research on each idea included on this list and did my best not to include copyrighted ideas (there are a lot of them and a lot of copyrighted items that should not be listed on Etsy, but receive a lot of traffic).

Please be sure to conduct your own research before making and selling a product.

You may want to check out: Laws for Selling Handmade

D) Updates

I hope to update this list throughout the year (it was created January 2025). However, please research a trend on your own before spending time and money on it, as there are no guarantees this list is up to date.

There is also no guarantee that a product you find on this list will sell. You’ll find a section at the end of this article to help with the next steps.

E) PLEASE CHECK COMMENT SECTION

*I’m no longer offering personalized research based on comments, however, if you have a product category you’d like for me to research in the future, please feel free to leave it in the comment section (e.g. “glass art” would be considered a category I can research; “painted glass Christmas wine bottle art” is a specific product I cannot research).

In this article, I’ve only shared products that have higher search volumes and traffic to Etsy. However, I’ve also shared many lower volume/traffic ideas in the comment section.

A term that only gets 50 visits to Etsy each month, won’t have enough traffic to generate significant sales for one shop. However, if a shop combines several lower-traffic products, they may collectively be enough traffic to hit your sales goals.

General Aesthetic

These terms are not specific to Etsy and refer to aesthetics. They often apply to anything from hairstyles, nails, and clothing, to home decor items, stickers, and digital products.

Please research each term to get a good understanding of what consumers are looking for.

The following are terms that are continuing on an upward trend:

  • Y2K
  • old money
  • bows
  • pink
  • coquette
  • preppy (the definition varies depending on target market. In fashion, it can translate to timeless pieces, while the TikTok (younger generation) views “preppy” as colourful (lots of pink) and more of a Y2K style)
  • cowgirl
  • coconut girl (beachy aesthetics with bright colors, florals, bucket hats, crochet bags, etc.)
  • goth (this term had a jump near the end of 2024 and is forecasted to continue rising in popularity. “Pastel goth” had a huge spike last summer)
  • boho
  • pearls (pearls have been a big trend for the past couple of years; the term (in general and not specific to an item (e.g. “pearl earrings” appears to be plateauing, but it’s not declining and there is still a high volume of related searches.)
  • retro style (This term had a big spike last summer. Searches have dropped a little since then, but are still 4x higher than they were in 2023.)
  • “444” (this number represents protection and there are searches and traffic to Etsy for a variety of items; 444 gold necklace, 444 tattoo, 444 sweatshirt, etc. Keep an eye on this one; Etsy doesn’t have high traffic for each term but general searches are on an upward trend.)
  • granny square (this knitted/crocheted pattern is still popular in 2025 and applies to a variety of items you can sell on Etsy (or at craft shows) such as granny square: cardigan, blanket, bag, hat, pattern, etc.)

Granny square trend 2025

Pickleball is also a term that continues to gain popularity in searches. “Pickleball paddles” has a lot of search volume and it continues to rise heading into 2025. The following terms were more popular on Etsy and suggest how you can translate the trend to handmade items, however, the search volume and traffic to Etsy for these terms are not nearly as high (as “pickleball” and “pickleball paddles”):

  • pickleball ornament (this was higher for the holidays, which at the time of writing, were just coming out of)
  • matching pickleball outfits
  • pickle playing pickleball
  • pickleball charm
  • pickleball bracelet

“Personalized” also continues to be a popular search term in general, and on Etsy. Some of the more popular terms on Etsy are (keep in mind, many are specific to the holidays that just passed or are coming up at the beginning of the year, but I’m adding them here so you can keep them in mind for the 2025 holidays and holidays throughout the year):

  • personalized ornaments
  • personalized pajamas

  • personalized keychain
  • self defence keychain

Signs to make & sell in 2025

  • letterpress wedding invitations

Cosplay & costumes to make & sell in 2025

  • therian mask
  • kigurumi mask

There is a lot of traffic that comes to Etsy for specific searches related to costumes and cosplay. I’m not sharing them here because I believe the majority would be trademarked (e.g. Daredevil). However, you may be able to create products inspired by a trademarked character and list them without using the trademarked name.

For example, if Daredevil is a popular costume, you may create a red and black body suit or boots, and list them as a red and black tactical body suit, to avoid copyright infringement.

Pins, stickers, & tattoos to make & sell in 2025

  • custom enamel pins
  • button pins

  • dog toy box
  • cat slippers
  • crochet cat hat
  • cat pillow
  • cat blanket
  • custom dog pillow
  • yeti dog bowl stand (you’ll have to research this one regarding copyright infringement. It’s referring to a stand to raise and hold the dog bowl, so creating a stand wouldn’t be copyright infringement, however, it’s likely not legal to use “yeti” in your listing/product title)

Gifts to make & sell in 2025

  • personalized gifts

  • copper anniversary gift
  • 7 year wedding anniversary gift
  • 8 year anniversary gift traditional and modern
  • 3 year anniversary gift

Bath & Body/Candles

  • preppy skincare (this is an alternative to the minimalistic skincare trends and seems to be more about colorful, Y2K-inspired branding/packaging rather than the actual ingredients; they’re bottles and tubes you want to display on your bathroom counter)
  • espresso martini candle (this term had a HUGE spike in search volume for Dec 2024. Etsy gets some traffic for the term, but not as much as I would expect for the surge in searches on Google.)

I didn’t find much for bath and body products or candles with high search demand.

Tumeric soap has high search demand, however, Etsy doesn’t get much of that traffic and it was only seeing a small increase in traffic.

That’s not to say bath and body products aren’t popular, I just didn’t find any obvious trends to jump on.

What to do next

If one of these keyword searches seems like a good fit for your business and brand, you should take a couple of steps:

1) Search the term

It’s important to search a term and see what the top results are to ensure you move forward with the right item. For example, consumers searching “crochet cat hat” could be looking for a hat for humans that has cat ears, or a hat their cat can wear. It’s important to determine the consumer intention behind a search phrase.

Let’s say I’m interested in offering “embroidered hoodies”. I would enter that term into a search bar (you can use any platform your target market uses (Google, Pinterest, etc.) but Etsy is a good place to start.

I notice that most of the top results are customizable. This tells me consumers are generally looking to have a hoodie embroidered with an image or phrase of their choice.

2) Choose a niche

If your search term is specific enough, you may not need to find a niche, however, you should still consider how you’ll make your product fit your brand and stand out.

In terms of an embroidered hoodie, it seems as though there is a decent amount of competition for custom embroidered hoodies, while also being several niches I can focus on.

To discover popular niches, I like to look at auto-suggestions that show under the search bar, as well as any subcategories Etsy suggests.

Auto-suggestions on Etsy are:

  • embroidered hoodie funny
  • embroidered hoodie design
  • embroidered hoodie purple
  • embroidered hoodie books
  • embroidered hoodie funny

Etsy also shoed a few niches along the top of the page (sometimes these suggestions showed, and other times they didn’t)

Those subcategory shopping suggestions were:

  • embroidered hoodie canada
  • embroidered hoodie animal
  • embroidered hoodie men
  • embroidered hoodie flower
  • embroidered hoodie dragon
  • embroidered hoodie funny

I could choose one or more niches of embroidered hoodies to offer, or combine niches (e.g. funny book embroidered hoodies)

3) Look for proof of success

Next, I would look for proof of sales (on Etsy). I would find a listing for the type of product I want to sell, and focus on the shops that have significant sales (100’s or 1000’s of reviews).

First I would look at that listing to see if there are several reviews for that specific listing, which is a good sign of healthy sales for that item.

I would then visit that seller’s shop to assess if they sell several of those products or just one or two. Then I would look scroll down to their shops reviews to get an idea of the type of products they tend to sell more of. If the shop sells a variety of hoodies but several are for embroidered book hoodies, it’s a good sign that it’s a popular selling product. If the shop sells just a couple embroidered hoodies and several t-shirts, and there are very few reviews for the embroidered hoodies, it may be a sign that it’s not a popular product.

If I can find a shop that has sold dozens or hundreds of the specific product I want to sell, that’s a good sign.

I hope you found this list helpful! Again, these aren’t “new” products, but rather products shoppers are heading to Etsy for in 2025. Although this list is based on online shopping searches, many of these products will be popular at craft shows or in stores.

It’s best to test the market before jumping in by creating a lot of stock.

Make a few items and see how they do at a craft show (or when you pitch it to retail stores). If they sell well, make more for your next craft show and carefully watch sales to guide whether you should make more or start phasing the item out.

I hope to update this list throughout the year.

Please have a read through the comment section as there are many other ideas there!

I’m no longer providing personalized searches for specific terms

However, you can leave a comment with your product category, as I may search the category when I make updates to this article.

*Please be sure to inquire about a category of product and not a specific/niche product as it’s hard to find results for terms such as “painted wine bottle Christmas art”; I need more broad search terms such as “glass art”.

I wondered if there was a way to search for trends in deco mesh wreath styles?

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Becky,
Thanks for commenting. Deco mesh wreaths are very specific, so there isn’t a lot of traffic/search volume. The following are the top 15 searches for “mesh wreath” and each only has 10 – 30 searches per month (on Google), with Etsy capturing just a few of those shoppers. However, when targeting lower traffic keywords/products, if you target multiple of them (e.g. if you had options for each of the keywords below), combined, you may get the traffic you need to reach your sales goals:
      spring deco mesh wreath
      fall mesh wreath ideas
      purple deco mesh wreath
      summer mesh wreath ideas
classy spring deco mesh wreath ideas
      pumpkin mesh wreath
      deco mesh wreath kits
      sunflower deco mesh wreath
      easter mesh wreath ideas
      square deco mesh wreath ideas
      bumble bee deco mesh wreath
      halloween deco mesh wreath ideas
      flower mesh wreath
      patriotic deco mesh wreath
      poinsettia mesh wreath

      I hope that helps!

  2. Hi Erin,

Thanks for this list. What about skincare, instead of bath and body?

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Tara!
I searched skincare and a few other specific products (lotion, cream, toner, cleanser), however nothing has a significant amount of traffic or is seeing an increase in traffic, aside from “preppy skincare” (which seems to be about colorful, Y2K inspired packaging).
      ~Erin

  3. Both Coraline and Luffy are trademarked characters for folks reading this list.

  4. Erin, I’m so appreciative of your generosity and this information you put out. It’s been invaluable as I’ve started doing craft shows. I’m a needle felter focusing on 3d sculptures. I like to know what things (cacti, llamas, mushrooms, etc) are trending as I create for shows. Your tips/trends have been helpful. I’ve also learned so much about display from you. Thank you!
Every year I wonder, “Is this the last year for mushrooms?” I’d love to know your thoughts.

    1. Hi Cathy! I’m so glad you find it helpful 🙂
Those trends are a little harder to research, as I would need to search all the potential terms that could be emerging (e.g. owl, fox, etc.).

      However, I can tell you:
cacti – more cacti terms are seeing a small uptick than a downturn, however, each term has low traffic (e.g. Etsy gets about 50 visits per month for “fuzzy cactus”)

mushroom – has the most traffic coming to Etsy for a variety of terms (mushroom wallpaper, art, earrings, pants, etc.) and is seeing more increases than decreases.

llama – has very little traffic coming to Etsy for llama-related terms and has more terms seeing a decrease in traffic than an increase.

I will keep an eye out for themes that appear this year (e.g. if “fox” starts appearing in a lot of searches).

I searched “felt” and “sculpture” and felt has several low-volume terms that are seeing a small increase in traffic. As mentioned in the comment above, combining several low-traffic products can product high traffic collectively.

      Felt:
      dinosaur
      plants
      fall garland
      dragon
      flowers
      numbers
      coasters
      succulent
      wall art
      tiles

      I hope that helps!

      ~Erin

    2. Hi Cathy, FYI: every fiber crafter I met last year said chickens were their best seller at every event!

  5. Are there any stats on diamond dots art? I have been trying to sell lots of different items embellished with the diamond dots, but I am not making much in sales. I think that no one is finding me online.

    1. Hi Deborah!
I searched the term and Etsy currently gets zero visitors for the term and in general, it has about 60 searches per month on Google. That’s not to say the item won’t sell; it just means very few people are searching for it (they may buy if they come across it; you’ll know those stats better than I :). “Diamond dotz art” has a higher search volume, however, I believe that may be a trademarked term.

  6. Denise Chambers says:

Any trends for selling pottery in 2025? I saw a hanging planter and a ring dish, but nothing else. Thank you.

  7. Hi Denise!
I did search “pottery” when creating my initial list and unfortunately didn’t find anything significant (which is why I searched terms like “vase”, “dish”, “plate”, etc.)

Of the higher-traffic pottery terms, they were all branded (e.g. “roseville pottery” brings the most traffic to Etsy, but that appears to be a vintage brand).

I only include higher-traffic terms in the list, but here are a few lower-traffic pottery terms that may help you see a small boost in traffic:

    pottery vases
    halloween pottery
    3D pottery
    hand thrown pottery
    bronze pottery
    pottery coffee mugs
village pottery (not sure if that’s trademarked)
    cute pottery
    cobalt blue pottery
    pottery cookie jar
    pottery to paint
    galaxy pottery

Again, low search volume on their own, but collectively could attract a decent amount of traffic/customers/sales.

    I hope that helps!

  8. Hi Erin,

I was looking at what you listed for clothing. My niche is more of children’s clothing, I was wondering if you saw anything for tutu sets or birthday outfits. Or maybe even types of clothing. Seeing birthday hats definitely gave me some ideas, but I was just curious.
    Thanks,
    Shameka

    1. Hi Shameka!
I had searched “children/children’s”, in my original research and nothing significant showed up.

I just searched tutu and Etsy doesn’t get much traffic for the term. These were the top terms, with the average being about 10 visits for each term per month:
      mardi gras tutu
      pride tutu
      first birthday tutu
      dog tutu
      gold tutu
      blue tutu
      newborn tutu
      grey tutu
      tutu dress toddler
      mermaid tutu outfit
      black tutu skirt
      rainbow tutu dress

I also did a general search for “tutu” search traffic (not specific to Etsy) and nothing stood out. However, the majority of tutu searches were for a specific color. E.g.:
      black tutu
      yellow tutu
      pink tutu
      white tutu
      purple tutu
      etc.

I did originally search specific clothing items (e.g. shirt, sweatshirt, onesie, etc.) and included anything with significant traffic.

Searching “outfit” these were some of the top terms related to children’s clothing (they each get more traffic…around 100 visitors and up per month):
      baby boy valentines outfit
      baby boy baptism outfit
      baby girl valentines outfit
      toddler valentines outfit
      newborn going home outfit
      newborn hospital outfit
      baby boy easter outfit
(obviously Valentine’s and Easter terms are seeing an increase because it’s January, but keep those terms’ popularity in mind for upcoming holidays.)

      I hope that helps!

      ~Erin

  9. Hi Erin,
Thanks for all of the great articles you write.
I design sublimated socks in crew, ankle and no show styles. I sell the most at craft shows rather than Etsy.
I also make embroidered dog poop bag dispensers. I know they are different niche’s, but they are my best sellers at shows.
Are you seeing any trends in socks??
    Thanks so much

    1. Hi Terry!
Thanks for the idea, I hadn’t searched “socks”. Here are the top terms and because they are all seeing an increase in traffic on Etsy and have decent traffic, I’ll add them to the article:
      slouch socks
      reflexology socks
      cozy socks
      knitted socks
      bridesmaid socks
      cute socks
      100% wool socks

(be sure to follow the steps at the end of this article to research what consumers are looking for. For example, your socks are fun, colorful prints, but when I search slouchy socks, the results tell me consumers are looking for neutral colors, no prints).

I searched “dog poop bag” (and variations) and there is very little traffic to Etsy for those terms (e.g. 4 visitors per month), and fairly low search traffic online, in general. The top terms were:
dog poop bag holder leash attachment
      dog poop bag dispenser
      dog poop bag carrier
      dog poop bag holders

      I hope that helps!

  10. Good morning, Erin. What are the stats on baby things like toys and bath towel sets? I make knitted and sewn animal toys, hooded bath towel sets and sensory quilts for sale at craft shows.
I enjoy all your postings and have incorropated many ideas into my displays and signage. Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Clarice!

I searched and included anything of value related to “baby” “kids” “toys” etc.

I searched for phrases with “towel” and there’s not much traffic. “Towel robe” was the top term, but even so, the traffic was pretty low.

Terms with “quilt” also don’t have much traffic on Etsy.

I tried searching “sensory” but again, lower search volume for these terms and very little traffic to Etsy for them. Here were some of the top terms (but again, they have low traffic and low increase in traffic):
      sensory kits
      toddler sensory board
      sensory mat
      sensory stickers sensory wall art
      sensory necklace

And lastly, I tried searching “animal”.
“peep stuffed animal” has a healthy search volume and decent traffic to Etsy for it, however, that term would be trademarked. It looks like it’s a peep-bunny-shaped stuff animal. So I’m sure you could make something similar to test at craft shows, but don’t use “peep” in the title or description.
The following have decent search demand, but lower traffic on Etsy:
      crochet stuffed animal
      dragon stuffed animal
      fluffy cow stuffed animal
      crochet animal kits
      highland cow stuffed animal

      Hope that’s helpful!

  11. Hi Erin,

I am seeing more and more creators leaving Etsy as it is no longer creator friendly. Perhaps this is not the place to be looking up trends if the platform is no longer conducive to the handmade artists it started out to be.

Just wanted to point this out but suspect you already know this. Thank you for all the work you do and provide to us creators.

    K

    1. Hi K,
Thanks for your comment! Yes, unfortunately, Etsy isn’t what it used to be for small handmade businesses. However, it’s still the top platform for handmade goods (ranked #4 overall for marketplaces, with Amazon, Walmart, and Ebay ahead of it).

I’ve been keeping my eye on Michaels marketplace and others with a focus on handmade, however, nothing gets close to what Etsy does for traffic.

But I will keep that in mind for future reference and explore ways to find handmade-focused items 🙂

  12. Hi, Erin! I thoroughly enjoy reading your articles and have downloaded all your ebooks. As a very new small business owner/ crafter, I really appreciate your research on craft trends. Last year, I created laser etched bottles and vases, accented with fairy lights. Have you seen many trends on these for this year?

This year, I began creating laser cut, layered wooden wall art, some similar to shadow boxes or layered shapes (animals). I also try to incorporate lighting, if possible. You mentioned wood wall art being a trend, thankfully, but what about specifically for the types I mentioned?

    Thanks so much!
    Tracy

    1. Hi Tracy,

Thank you so much for your support! I’m glad you find these articles helpful 🙂

I searched “laser” and below are the terms that get some traffic on Etsy. However, each term has a relatively low search volume online and a very small amount of traffic to Etsy for them each month. As mentioned in other comments, collectively, they may get you enough traffic to hit your sales goals:
      laser cut wall art
      laser engraved art
      laser cut wood panels
laser engraved stanley tumbler (not sure what the copyright rules would be for a listing like that)
      laser cut business card holder
      laser cut keychains
      laser cut artwork

“Engraved” has slightly more search volume and more traffic to Etsy:
      engraved notebook
      engraved promise rings
      engraved heart necklace
      engraved gifts for men
      engraved shot glasses
      engraved rings
      engraved horseshoe
      mens engraved necklace
      engraved flask

      I hope that helps!

I saw a gal making lazer cut puzzles with free colored pencils. She sold more than anyone at the show! Her larger prints like 24×36 maybe were not puzzles but looked like them in style.

      1. That’s such a fun product idea! Puzzles have a lot of search volume (in general), which spike over the holidays (Nov/Dec). 2020 had the biggest spike (likely due to everyone being stuck inside), but other than that, the high search volumes are remaining pretty steady. “Custom puzzle” is also a popular niche; lots of search volume every Nov/Dec but it’s been pretty even over the last few years.

Etsy has some traffic for the term, with “name puzzles” being the most popular on the platform 🙂

  13. Laura Shaver says:

WOW! What a treasure trove of information! You have provided so many artists, et al, with wonderful insight, tips and confidence to sell their (beloved) products.

I have been contemplating selling handmade doll clothes for the 18 inch doll, such as the American Girl, My Life, etc. These dolls seem to be very popular. My niece has six. After talking with my sister about how expensive the outfits are, especially when they are trying to clothe six dolls! My sister asked if I would sew a few simple outfits, I couldn’t really say no to my sister or niece 🙂 I bought a doll for myself for fittings and modeling. I’ve gained a lot of confidence and sewn some really nice outfits for these dolls. I started out using free patterns via Pinterest and have evolved to designing my own patterns over time. I have photographed their outfits and have been greatly complimented on my “creations”. They are not complicated, but not too simple. I’ve gained a lot of insight from my eight year old niece on what works for her and her friends. The liked easy to put on and take off outfits. The also liked matching jewelry to go with the outfits. Blankets and pillows are popular as well. I would like to take most of this year to make outfits and accessories to sell at some holiday markets towards the end of the year. Any insight you have will be much appreciated.

Many thanks for all the information you have researched and shared. I know it takes a lot to put all of it together.

    Kindest Regards …

    1. Hi Laura,

Thanks for reading and commenting! I researched “American Girl” and “My Life (dolls)” and American Girl dolls are much more popular (in search demand). I didn’t find anything specific about the type of clothes people are looking for, they simply search “American girl doll clothes”.

“American girl doll accessories” and “American girl doll house” are also popular search terms, so I like that you’re thinking of accessories, blankets, and pillows too 🙂

I did also search a few general terms for doll clothes and again, nothing caught my eye for specific terms, but rather, people simply search “doll clothes” (rather than “doll hoodie” or “floral doll dress”). On one hand, that doesn’t give you much direction or indication that a certain style will sell, but on the other hand, it leaves it up to interpretation and your creativity. You may want to follow current teen trends (e.g. the Y2K fashion styles) or focus on a niche (e.g. princess-style clothing and accessories for little girls who love anything princess, or boho-style clothing and accessories, or create occupation/hobby-focused clothes.)

Searches peak during the holidays (Oct/Nov/Dec) as I’m sure the dolls and their accessories are popular gifts.

Do keep in mind, American Girl is trademarked so you won’t be able to use that term to market your business or products. However, that shouldn’t pose much of an issue if you’re selling in person at craft shows. Simply marketing them as doll clothes and displaying a few key pieces on American Girl dolls in your display, will be enough for shoppers to understand the type of dolls the clothes are for.

      I hope that’s helpful!

Thank you, your information is very helpful. I appreciate the time you took to research and reply. I’m excited to get my project underway. I look forward to future updates from Made Urban, great stuff!

        Kindest Regards

  14. Thank You Erin for all of the valuable information that you provide regarding trends for the year. I find it helpful to see all the different categories one can explore when looking for a niche. I am a crocheter and also do sewing and have defined my niche. I do a bazaar and have found some of what I have made has created a lot of interest and sales since selling in the last 3+ years. This year I’m looking for new ideas to add new items while still maintaining the same trademark.

  15. Hi Erin, I make and sell Dried Flower art and herbarium bottles any tips for keyword search I can use?

    1. Hi Suki!
I searched “dried flower” and the most popular search terms with higher search volumes are: dried flower bouquet (which has been climbing since 2019) and dried flower arrangement (which has dropped since 2022, but has a healthy search volume).

The traffic to Etsy for dried flower-related terms is a bit low, but combined, the following most popular terms may produce enough traffic for healthy monthly sales: dried flower bouquet
      dried flower crown
      dried flower garland
      dried flower art
      dried flower wreaths
      dried flower wall hanging
      dried flower centrepieces
      dried flower ornaments
dried flower phone case (this one has low search volume and low Etsy traffic but included it to show that there is interest in a variety of items)

“Herbarium bottles” has pretty low search volume and only a few people visiting Etsy each month for each of the terms below:
      herbarium bottle
      Japanese herbarium
      herbarium jar
      herbarium book
      Japanese herbarium bottles

Thanks Erin, you are such a generous person with your time and information. I hope and pray blessings of success to you!

My latest craze is wooden bead jewelry. More of a modern, bold, artsy style as well as tribal wood tones (I like both). Is there any interest out there?

    1. Thank you so much Terri! That’s so nice of you 🙂

I searched “wooden bead” and “wood bead” and the top terms in that niche are:
      wood(en) bead necklace
      wood(en) bead bracelet
The search volume for each isn’t very high (approx 300-350 searches per month for each term) and it’s not trending up (but it also doesn’t appear to be dropping).
Etsy gets a little traffic for each of these terms, but not a lot each month.

I searched a few other keywords based on your description, but didn’t find any “trends”.

      I hope that still helps!

  17. Julie W. Snyder says:

I am a weaver (over 60 years) and I sold a lot of wall hangings a few years back during the Craft Movement, but am finding that they are tougher to sell especially on Etsy. When someone does buy my work they always ask where have I been. Ebay takes a big percentage and maybe I should go there, but it just seems like an odd place to sell fiber art. I’m on IG and love that community but it’s hard to sell there.

Did you do a comparison of web site platforms not too long ago. I don’t have my own website and possibly that’s what I need to pursue. On IG I go by juliew.snyder if you are interested in seeing what I spin, weave and dye for my wall hangings.

  18. Candy Simchik says:

Thanks so much! I love reading all your ins and outs!
I am into handpainting glass and plastic ornaments. I also paint wood rounds with popular themes both religious and trending snowmen, nutcrackers, and angels. They have been very popular for 5 yrs but last year seemed slow. I offer on the baubles, winter scenes, birds, nature themed, snowmen etc. they are mostly dark blue or a teal blue background.
Any suggestions for what themes might be better in this area?

    1. Hi Candy,

I’m so glad you found it helpful! It’s hard to say as search volume drops off after December for ornament-related terms, so it will be easier to spot trends closer to Oct/Nov. You may also have some luck targeting the ideas shared at the beginning of the article under “general aesthetics”, depending on your target market (Y2K, preppy, etc. typically appeal to a younger target market).

I can see that terms like “pickleball ornament”, “baby’s first Christmas”, “wedding Christmas ornament” had traffic on Etsy (but it’s obviously dropping off now). Those are in line with the general trends at the beginning of the article (pickleball and personalized items).

      I hope that helps!

  19. Michelle Armstrong says:

Erin, what about paperless towels? I make them!

    1. Hi Michelle!
“Paperless towels” is not a popular search term, however “reusable paper towels” has a lot of search volume (on Google) and is still trending up (which is important to keep in mind for SEO).

There aren’t any niche reusable paper towel search terms with high volumes; “papaya reusable paper towels” (which is a trademarked term) is the 2nd most popular search term in that category, so you may want to research them to see if there’s a specific style, material, etc. that consumers really like.

Etsy gets very little traffic from the thousands of people searching that term each month. The top terms are “reusable paper towel dispenser” and “reusable paper towel holder”; but there are only a few visitors to Etsy per month for each term.

      I hope that helps!

      ~Erin
